| Holiday Greetings from Paragon! |
Dear Friends,
It's been both humbling and inspiring to watch our community recover from the economic challenges of 2010. Many of us had to downsize and make drastic changes just to survive. Some of you may still be working hard just to stay afloat. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to all of you that the coming year will be one filled with happiness, security, and warm memories.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. The students and staff at Paragon want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year!

Snow Dogs: The Siberian HuskyEver wonder about those breeds that just love the snow? Ever wonder how they can spend countless hours outdoors and never seem to get cold? Let's talk about the Siberian Husky, a sled dog known for its amazing endurance and willingness to work. The American Kennel Club (AKC) indicates that this beautiful breed is agreeable and outgoing, making it a great all-around dog, suitable for anything from sledding to therapy work.
Huskies have a thicker coat then most other breeds of dog, made up of a dense cashmere-like undercoat and a longer, coarse top coat. This works well not only to insulate them from the cold, but adds protection against warm temperatures. When kept clean and healthy, this coat will be the Husky's best friend against harsh weather - both hot and cold.
If you're thinking about adding one to your family, keep in mind that Siberians are relatively easy to maintain, but their thick coats require weekly brushing. New owners should be prepared to provide an outlet for exercise daily, whether through walks or an enclosed space in which to run. Predatory instincts are strong, so Siberians should be supervised around small animals in and around the home.

Deck the Halls !
It's time to show your holiday spirit! As you decorate your home, don't forget that some items, such as ribbon, tinsel, and even the water in your tree can be very intriguing to your dogs and cats. These items, when ingested, can pose certain health risks, so be sure to monitor your pet elves closely.
