GREEN GOODIE

If you don't use a lawn cutting service it will soon be time to bring out the mower for regular weekly use. To get the best cut and a healthier lawn try to get your mower blade sharpened once a month during the summer cutting season.

GREEN GOODIE!

With wetter months ahead you may be starting to think about your water gardens. Here are a few tips to help maintain heathy ones.

1. Keep up to 70% of the water surface covered with lilies or floating plants.

2. Add snails or tadpoles to help control algae and keep things clean.

3. Keep the water stocked with underwater plants such as eel grass, cobomba, and anacharis to use up nutrients and supply oxygen.

4. Don't feed fish anymore food than they can eat in 3 to 5 minutes.

Building the Bayside Pergola

Our Client in Beach Park had a incredible West facing view of Tampa Bay, but like many home owners, their pool deck had no refuge from the harsh Florida sun.  An hour by the pool would leave them and their pool guests scorched!

What they needed was a sanctuary to provide some shade without negating the experience of being out in the sun and fresh air.

We had just the solution! We built and installed a beautiful  pergola with rounded columns. The trellised canopy with ceiling fan allows warm air to rise up and escape while at the same time making for a nice shaded retreat.

Now, our Beach Park client has a resort quality pool area which is truly complete!

PLANT OF THE MONTH

Butterfly Bush

(Buddleia)

Plant pollinators are under environmental pressure around the globe. Bees are the most prolific pollinators worldwide, but butterflies also do a lot of work to keep the plant population diverse and healthy.

Planting and keeping the beautiful Butterfly Bush is a great way to help these stunning insects propagate the plants we love to look at, as well as the ones we depend on for eating. Butterflies find the flowers of this attractive plant to be irresistible as a source of nourishment, which is important in a world of disappearing habitat.

The butterfly bush is tolerant of growing zones 5-10 (Click here to find your zone) and is fairly easy to maintain. As a summer bloomer it can also add some color to your property at a time when many other flowers might have a tough time with the sun and heat.

Other pollinators love it too...

MEMORY LANE..

Here is a look back at just a few of the pergolas we have built around Tampa Bay !

There are so many more other projects for us to look back on that we just can't get to them all at once. But we will try to highlight more of them in the months ahead. So, keep watching. You may see one you recognize!
