PASTOR'S CORNER
2 Corinthians 9
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
Paul's letter to the Corinthians is a powerful witness to the importance of supporting the church. Please keep these words of the Apostle Paul in mind as you and your family prayerfully consider your pledge to the ministry and mission of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Please remember to bring your pledge card this Sunday with your pledge to support the work that God is doing through us.
In Christ

Commitment Sunday
This Sunday is Commitment Sunday. It is the Sunday we set aside to make our commitment to the mission and ministries of the church through the offering of our time, talent, and treasure. We have heard from many members about how much this church means to them. Leslie and Hector shared how welcoming Memorial Drive is and how God brought them here. Marva shared all of the meaningful ways that she is able to serve in supporting our missions and ministries. Neal shared with us how tithing - giving 10% - has been a blessing in his life and how important it is to Joan and him to support the church. During the luncheon - immediately following worship - there will be tables explaining the mission and ministry opportunities that need your time and talent. Please be sure to visit each table and find a place to share your gifts and time.
In the power of the Holy Spirit,
George

Luke brings the early life of the church together in vivid stories that include history, biography, and the growth of the early church. The Acts of the Apostles come alive with his telling. Write: The things that stood out for you in the readings.
Come: To the church library at 10am on Tuesday to discuss.
Please call me at 404.784.0382 if you would like to study the Acts of the Apostles but cannot make Tuesdays. I will find a time that works for those who are interested. |
