PASTOR'S CORNER
"If you had told me a year ago that I would be an Elder of a Presbyterian church I would have looked at you like you were crazy!"
- Leslie, Elder and Session Class of 2015
I don't think that Hector, Leslie's husband, would have thought he would be leading worship with a solo a year ago either, but that is just what happened and WOW can he sing!
God is at work, transforming lives and putting Memorial Drive to good use! This time of transformation has brought many new gifts to the congregation and helped people discover their hidden gifts and talents. We are preparing for the future growth and vitality that will enrich our lives and ministry together.
Side by side, friends old and new will be united as we live into God's unfolding plans for Memorial Drive. We remember the saints who came before us, who have given us such a strong foundation, and we look forward to God's plans for a strong and vital congregation. By pledging and giving to the church you make sure that our ministries will remain strong and grow in 2013 and in the years to come. As we give thanks for the Holy Spirit that fills us with promise and possibility, let us show through extravagant generosity our gratitude for God's blessing on this our beloved congregation.
In Gratitude for Christ,
George
Week 5 - 18th Sunday after Pentecost, September 30, 2012.
"The Israelites wept and said, "If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt, and (all the vegetables)... but now there is nothing except this manna to eat." Numbers 11:4-6.
When given manna to assuage their hunger, the Israelites complained that it wasn't what they really wanted. How familiar this complaint sounds to us! We can be pretty hard to please, and constantly want more. Perhaps we need to take stock of all that we really have received from God and grow in a spirit of gratitude.
