PASTOR'S CORNER
God wants us as his followers to give it all we've got so that all people will come to know him and he will be glorified. "Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good . . . and not live unproductive lives" (Titus 3:14). One way we live productive lives is when we are active and involved in the work of the church. Each of us has a special role to play in extending God's kingdom through the church. God calls us to be participants, not spectators. We may sing in the choir, teach Sunday school, serve coffee, collate bulletins, serve on committees, or usher. Whatever we do, we need to "serve wholeheartedly, as if [we] were serving the Lord, not to men and women" (Ephesians 6:7) (info@tlc-lilburn.org)

Week 3 -16th Sunday after Pentecost,September 16, 2012
The Kingdom of God, Jesus said, "is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade." Mark 4:31-32.
It's hard to overestimate the effects of our generosity. Though a small seed, it can grow into an amazing thing: maybe a church congregation, maybe food for the hungry, maybe encouragement for the fearful. My generous gift can provide rest and shelter, not for the birds of the air, but for the members of God's kingdom.
