PASTOR'S CORNER
The church ought to be that sort of community whose work is so risky, whose mission is so bold, and whose success is so unimaginable that the church will fail utterly unless the Holy Spirit empowers it to be that which God calls the church to be. William H. Willimon TS Eliot, in his poem The Love Song of J. ALfred Prufrock, asks this simple question: Do I dare disturb the universe? It seems unimaginable that we should even ponder so great a question. Unimaginable except for the fact that we are followers of Jesus Christ, unimaginable except for the fact that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, unimaginable only because our thoughts are not God's thoughts nor our ways God's ways. But if we set our mind on God, and our hearts on faithful submission to God's will for our lives, then nothing can keep us from being all that God calls us to be, and we will shake the universe.
Peace,
George
