PASTOR'S  CORNER

"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift." - Matthew 5:23-24

"Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hate. It is a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness."

- Corrie Ten Boom

Gathering at 6 pm in the Donnell Building

For the next 4 weeks we will be gathering with missionaries from across the United States, and our partners at Global Frontier Missions, for food, fellowship, and song. These evenings are much more than just a shared meal. They are an opportunity for us to grow in our faith and to demonstrate the radical welcome to our guests. Please make every effort to join us on Wednesday nights.  You may bring a salad or dessert.

Volunteer opportunities to help with the Summer Camp through GFM are available so come and find out how you can get involved!

The summer day camp is held on the following dates: June 25 - 28; July 2 - 5; 9 - 12; 16 - 19 from 9 am - 12 pm

SANCTUARY MODIFICATIONS

"Sanctuary Modifications for Nurture and Hospitality"

At the April 15th meeting, Session approved a motion from the Christian Education Committee to modify the back of the Sanctuary to create a welcoming space for birth through kindergarten age children and their families. The motion proposes the removal of 2-3 back pews on both sides of the Sanctuary, and the addition of baby- and child-friendly furniture and supplies, such as a rug, rocking chairs, tables, crayons, and lectionary-based activities. The hope is that the proposed changes will accomplish the following:
  • families with young children will feel welcome to worship with their children at Memorial Drive
  • children will be nurtured and educated in worship while engaging in child-appropriate activities that relate to the day's worship service
  • adult volunteers and parents will be able to worship more regularly in the Sanctuary for their own nurture
  • children and their families will be equipped to have faith conversations with one another by experiencing worship together
Over the next several weeks, the Christians Education committee will be working out the details and the cost of the work to be done. The committee will continue to keep the congregation informed as the work continues. We ask that the congregation continue to pray for the spiritual nurture of the entire congregation, from babies to senior adults, and for us as the congregation to continue growing in our hospitality for even the youngest of God's children.
