PASTOR'S NOTE
Last week I saw a video that is a reminder that every life has a story that we cannot know. In it, the life experiences and trials are written on the people: a girl whose mother died, a father who just lost his job, etc. It was especially timely for me as a reminder that each and every encounter is a chance to make a connection or miss a connection. The following prayer may help us in our journey and is my prayer of the week:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; when there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand, to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life.
Peace of Christ Always,
George

SOUL JOURNERS STUDIO - OPEN HOUSE
Snack and Yak will be held in the Donnell Building this Sunday after worship so that everyone will be able to see the Soul Journers Studio. It offers exploration and discovery through art and is led by art therapist Sandra Tate. Life has its challenges and one of the ways in which we can effectively deal with these challenges is to explore them through art. Groups are forming and information about these groups will be available. If you have an idea for a group, 6-8 people, talk to Sandra. The studio officially opens on July 26th but this is an opportunity to meet Sandra and to see the exciting new things that are happening here at Memorial Drive.
Soul Journers Studio is a partnership between art therapist Sandra Tate, Shallowford Presbyterian, and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
