Throughout Advent we have been building up to the anticipated joy of Christmas with a keen awareness that something bigger than we can imagine is happening. The scriptures have really highlighted this reality.
1st Sunday in Advent: Keep awake - for you do not know when the master of the house will come. Mark 1:1-8
2nd Sunday in Advent: The Lord is not slow about his promise, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-15
3rd Sunday in Advent: What do you say about yourself? Here is John the Baptist's response, "Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal."
This Sunday's Lessons and Carols is the culmination of Advent. Just as God's plans for Mary were revealed to by the Angel Gabriel, God's plans for us will be revealed as we attentively wait in anticipation of the coming Christ. Listen for God's inspiration in song and scripture and be blessed.
