In the sermon this week I shared the story of Karl Barth's only visit to the United States. He was asked during his visit to summarize the essence of the millions of words he had published and he responded, "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so."
This week our guest theologian Rev. Dr. George Stroup will be teaching and preaching from his book Why Jesus Matters. While reading in preparation for our guest theologian, I noticed in the second chapter of his book a section titled: Does the Bible Really Tell Us Who Jesus Really Was?
I won't spoil Sunday school here, but I am looking forward to joining you all at 9:15AM in the Donnell Building, as together we learn from the J.B. Green Professor of Theology at Columbia Theological Seminary.
See you then!

Peace of Christ Always,

George

ALL SAINTS' DAY

We will be celebrating All Saall saints dayints' Day the first Sunday in November.

This celebration will reflect our deep appreciation for those "saints" of the church who have led us in faith. Thankful for the examples that God has given us, and the increased faith that is made possible through them, we will honor them for the gifts they have given the church. During the service, the names of those saints who have gone before us will be read, and a candle will be lit in their honor.

We will also honor those saints whose continuing dedication and good works have sustained the church for this time of new growth in faith and mission.

Please reserve a candle so that we can honor those dearly departed. You may use the online form to submit the names.

Memorial gifts and donations may be made in honor of the saints in your life by writing the name of the person on the memo line of your check or by writing the amount of your cash donation on the form itself. All gifts and donations will go to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund.

A few, of the many ways in which the PDF has been used this past year, include:

To refurbish the Adult and Youth classrooms with new paint and carpet, sponsor speaker Rev. Robby Carroll and the delicious meals during Discovery Weekend, and clean and re-stretch the carpet in the sanctuary. The money that you give to this fund is above and beyond your normal tithe and offering and is used to enhance our worship, education, and mission. Give as you are able for the Lord loves a gracious giver.
