Revised Common Lectionary Readings for Sunday, October 9, 2011, tlectionaryhe Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A)

Report from the Preaching Retreat at Cherry Log with Bishop Will Willimon

One of the things I want to share from today's retreat was Bishop Willimon's reflection that each week the congregation comes together to hear the sermon with a "willingness to be shocked by God."

Last Sunday we heard how Jesus shocked Paul on the road to Damascus. The Sunday before we heard how God wrestled with Jacob. My prayer is that God will care enough about what we are doing that God will shock and wrestle with us as we journey in faithfulness. Amen.

Peace of Christ Always,

George
