Revised Common Lectionary Readings for Sunday, September 25, 2011, the Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A)

Each week I share the lectionary so that everybody can get familiar with the sermon and the readings. I believe that sticking to the lectionary is a good discipline. It walks us through the texts every three years and gives a continuity to the sermons.

This week I am breaking this discipline to preach from Genesis. I know you might think that I am pulling your leg, but the only person pulling someone's leg this week is going to be Jacob who came into the world holding Esau's leg.
