Revised Common Lectionary Readings for Sunday, June 5, 2011, the Seventh Sunday of Easter (Year A)
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
Sunday's sermon reminded the youth that in baptism we become part of an extended family. Whether moving from middle school to high school, or traveling off to college, our thoughts and prayers go with the youth, who have grown up before our eyes.
But Sunday's message wasn't just for the youth.
Each and every one of us goes through life transitions - a time when new things are happening.
Some members have moved to be closer to their children in retirement, others have moved into assisted living to make their lives easier.
Wherever life has taken you, I want you to know:
- that the Presbyterian Women are still talking about the time you served the brussel sprout casserole recipe that you found at the dentist office.
- that your role as a wise man during the Christmas drama was Oscar worthy.
- that we missed you as we packed the holiday boxes and remembered the time you taped your hand to the box.
Most importantly I want you to know that you are loved by God and by your church family at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church; we are praying for you, and praying that God will watch over you until we meet again. So, until then...
George
