Revised Common Lectionary Readings for Sunday, May 15, 2011, the Fourth Sunday of Easter (Year A)

Mother's Day was a wonderful celebration of women who have nurtured us. Regardless of who birthed us, strong and gifted women have nurtured us all at some point or another in our lives. The Biblical imagery of God as Mother is an important witness to the expansive nature of God and if we ignore this imagery we limit our understanding of God. The prayer of confession was based on the lectionary reading from 1 Peter 2.  I invite you to consider the many faces of God found on the second page of the attached link. Try to include these images in your prayers so that you might more fully honor God.
