Revised Common Lectionary Readings for Sunday, April 10, 2011, the Fifth Sunday in Lent (Year A)

This is the season for do-it-yourself projects and Lowes, Ace Hardware, and Home Depot have all geared up for the season. With this in mind I would like to share something I read recently in Practice Resurrection by Eugene Peterson

"We are born into a cosmos in which all the conditions and requirements for growing up are not only in place but are in action. The practice of ressurection is not a do-it-yourself self-help project. It is God's project, and God is engaged full-time in carrying it out."

An Opportunity to Serve

MDPC has committed to pack lunches at the Clifton Night Shelter, 369 Connecticut Avenue NE., Atlanta GA. We need three volunteers for the third Monday of each month from 7 to 8:30 pm. The next date is Monday, April 18. Please call the church office to have your name put on the list of volunteers.

Stella Hayes Fisher, daughter of Jennifer and Andy Fisher, granddaughter of Beth Roberts and Ed Wolpert, was born on Monday, March 21, 3:35 p.m., weight 6 lb. 15 oz.
