Creation
Join us this Sunday at 9:15 as we contiue our exploration on the Biblical theme of Creation. What is our responsibility towards creation? How can we be better stewards of the resources God has given us? What does it mean to have dominion over something? How can we join with God in the creative process which is continually unfolding? Bring these and other questions as we explore Biblical and theological sources on creation. Jihyun Oh will be leading the discussion.

Stewardship of Creation
Rev. Dr. William P. Brown, Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary, will be leading a session of the new format adult education series on March 27 at 9:15 A.M. Our current series on Stewardship of Creation is a special area of interest for Professor Brown; he is a co-founding and steering committee member of Earth Covenant Ministry, a grass-roots organization of Presbyterian churches in the Atlanta area committed to creation care. He is the author of numerous books and publications including The Seven Pillars of Creation: The Bible, Science, and the Ecology of Wonder. I am sure he would be glad to sign a copy of any of his books after the class; they are available at Cokesbury and Columbia Theological Seminary. You can read more about Prof. Brown at: http://www.ctsnet.edu/Files/Directories/Faculty/Resumes/Brown_William%202010.pdf

All God's Children
On March 30th at 6:00 PM we will have a special guest, the Rev. Michael McLaughlin, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Manchester, Tennessee, who will be speaking to us about All God's Children. All God's Children is an outreach ministry to the children in Manchester that began at his church and has brought new life and vitality to his congregation. Rev. McLaughlin accepted my invitation to speak to us and will be driving down from Manchester, Tennessee, with the sole - or should I say "soul" - purpose of sharing his story with us. Please make every effort to attend this wonderful presentation. More details will follow in the coming weeks so keep an eye on the MDPC E-News. |
Hunger Walk March 13
Memorial Drive will be participating in the HungerWalk again this year. It's easier than ever to donate to this cause. Just click on the link below, click on "Support Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church", and fill out the online donation form.
http://acfb.convio.net/site/TR/HungerWalkPATH/HungerWalk?team_id=10640&pg=team&fr_id=1300
Don't want to do an online donation? You can always send a check (payable to MDPC, but note in the memo "HungerWalk"). You'll be part of a 27-year effort that will not only make you feel great, but will also make an incredible difference in the lives of our fellow Georgians. With demand for food assistance up 30% last year, your help is needed now more than ever. Our donations help to support P.A.T.H. (Presbyterian Answer To Hunger). Our goal right now is to raise $500.00. Surely we can do that (and maybe more)!
Our youth will be traversing the roads of Atlanta the day of the HungerWalk. If you are so inclined (it's just 5K!), you are welcome to join them. Otherwise, please consider making a donation. |
