"Be good, keep your feet dry, your eyes open, your heart at peace and your soul in the joy of Christ." - Thomas Merton
I shared with the congregation on Sunday that Clifto n Night Shelter kept coming up in my conversations with other churches last week. Norcross Presbyterian brings a meal for the thirty or so men who are getting their lives back in order on the first Sunday of every month. Some of their regular volunteers have moved away and they are looking for partners in this ministry. The Church of the New Covenant meets on Mondays at the shelter to prepare sandwiches for the next day. Everything they need is provided except for the hands to make them. As these churches reach out for partners in ministry, I wonder what it would mean for us as a church to stand beside them and say, "Here we are Lord, use us." As you pray this week, ask God to keep your eyes open for opportunities to serve in worship, prayer, fellowship, mission, and in ministry. Peace of Christ Always, George |
