"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own;  you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body," (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

The American Diabetes Association has initiated a statewide Diabetes Day for Churches this Sunday to raise awareness of diabetes.  There will be a table outside of the sanctuary staffed by a volunteer from the American Diabetes Association to give helpful information related to daibetes.

My grandfather had diabetes, my father has diabetes, and I used to get an Oreo shake from Chick-Fil-A everytime I passed by one.     I went to the doctor a few months back I told him that I thought I needed to be tested because I was drinking a lot of water and felt sluggish - two symptoms of diabetes.  My sugar levels were fine on a previous blood test but a quick check on the meter showed my sugar level was at 300!  The good news is that with diet and exercise I have kept my sugar levels at normal for 3 months now and am off medication (I still do a blood test every day to make sure I am managing my sugar well).  Paying attention to what our body is telling us is key to long term health.

I hope that everyone will get this valuable information and share it with their family and friends.  Honor God by taking good care of your body.

Peace always,

George

MDPCCPSCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

The school's annual Scholastic Book Fair will take place February 14th through 18th. The book fair offers low cost quality books for children in the preschool and early elementary age groups.

The fair is a part of the school's literacy program to help our children be ready for entrance into kindergarten. Brain research shows that preschool children who are read to and who have available to them the printed word in books and other forms have the experiences that make learning to read easier. Those children also score significantly higher on reading tests.

You can help this happen for the children here at MDPCCP. We need volunteers to read to the children at the kick off event on Friday evening Feb.11th and also in the classrooms during the day the week of Feb. 14th. We want to keep a graph of the number of books being read to each class and the numbers of hours of reading going on in each group.

If you can come in and read to a group, we need you!!!!! Books from the fair will be available for you to read or if you have a favorite picture book bring it along to share. Contact Tonie in the school office to volunteer.

We also need volunteers to help set up the fair on Friday morning, Feb. 11th and to be cashiers at the fair during the week. After the opening event, the fair is open each day in the morning and afternoon.

If you have been thinking of a way to help out at the school or a way to make a difference in the life of a child, call Tonie today. (404-296-1783)

MISSION AND OUTREACH

Church of the New Covenant PC(USA) has asked if we would partner with them in mission and outreach.  Volunteers are needed Monday evenings from 7-9pm to prepare bagged lunches for the men of Clifton Sanctuary Ministries http://www.cliftonsanctuary.com/.  Everything you need to make the lunches is there; 3 people is the ideal number to get the job done.  Volunteers for the fourth Monday of the month are desperately needed. This is a great opportunity to share in ministry and outreach and to live into the Presbytery's vision for cooperative ministries between churches in Greater Atlanta.  For more details call me or contact:
