Isaiah 9:6christmas true meaning

For a child has been born for us,
   a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
   and he is named
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Mark 8:27

Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"

The sermon text for Christmas Eve comes from Isaiah 9:6.  The prophet tells of the coming child who will be born for us, who will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

My question for you, "Who is Jesus for you?  What images and language do you use to describe your experience of Christ?  How do you tell others about God's work in your life through Jesus?"

Peace,
George

WISE MEN NEEDED
The Bhutanese children will be getting their Christmas gifts at 5pm in the Donnell Building.  If you would like to be a wise person bringing gifts to them let Pastor George know so we can get you into costume.

Rachael Tenpenny was a real blessing to the Golden Living Center through her gifts of time, talent, and treasure.  Her on-going interest in the needs of those in assisted living has had a profound impact on their quality of life.  She played the piano at a reception and told me that the practice really paid off; everybody told me how wonderful it was.  The gifts that she brought gave smiles and joy to everyone!  She did a great job!  Thanks to all who contributed to making this event a success.  I invite you to call her and see if you can't go with her the next time she visits so that you can see for yourself this wonderful outreach ministry.

Communicycle Saturday was a huge success.  We hosted the distribution of over 88 bicycles.  For the children it was a Christmas gift on wheels, for adults it was needed transportation to work.  It was amazing to see the joy in the faces of so many kids who received refurbished bicycles; it was a real blessing.  There will be more opportunities to partner with ministries in the community and I am hoping that we will find creative ways to partner with them in 2011.  Georgebm
