Dear MDPC friends,

Words cannot express my gratitude for your gracious farewell this past Sunday.  Thank you so much for honoring me with the delicious lunch (special thanks to Marva Bryan and all her colleagues), generous check, and kind words.  It has been a joy to serve God with you during the past two years.

As I have said many times, I believe that MDPC exemplifies God's diverse and loving Kingdom, and I believe that in the years ahead God will be doing wonderful things in and through this congregation.  My prayers go with you as you begin this new and exciting chapter of ministry.

Love and blessings,

Mary Jane

Welcome New Members

Katherine Knight, and her children, Mykeisia, Bernell and Verneisha.

Atetom Ware, wife of Komla Akoni.

Worship

On Sunday, October 31, the Rev. Ms. Penny Hill will be our guest preacher.  She has been on the presbytery staff for over a year. An ordained member of this presbytery for 24 years, Penny served most of that time at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in the area of Family Ministry.

On Sunday, November 7, we will welcome our new pastor, the Rev. Mr. George Tatro.  Please plan to be present as MDPC begins this exciting new chapter in our congregation's life.

Invitation

Presbyterian Women Circle 1 would like to invite all women of the church who are interested in the fun and fellowship of deepening friendships to join us at 5:30 pm on Thursday, October 28, in the Donnell Building.   We will discuss at that time when and where we want to hold future meetings in order to accommodate as many of us as possible.

We ask that each person bring a small salad or a few sandwiches to share.    Please come and join us!

P.W. Missions - BIBS

P.W. spends time, energy, and money to benefit certain missions.  Each month, a different mission will be highlighted.  This month, we'll focus on BIBS for the Frasier Center.

For several years, Clif Trussell has single-handedly made 100's of bibs for the Frasier Center, Atlanta's Cerebral Palsy Center.  The Frasier Center is no longer providing towels for these bibs, but Clif is willing to continue making them.  If you would be interested in assisting with this P.W. mission, you can bring towels to the church office.  Once we get the towels, we can set up a workday, get directions from Clif, bring our scissors, and cut the bibs.

If you prefer, you can write a check to MDPC-PW, marked Bibs. Realizing that many are unable to contribute financially to these missions, we ask for your prayers.

Habitat for Humanity

Day Two:  October 17, 2010

The construction of the Habitat house continued with our capable volunteer Tom Grace lending a hand.  Per Tom "If you have never participated in a Habitat for Humanity house build, I would suggest you contact June Pleasant and volunteer for the multi-denominational build currently going on at 511 Harper Street in Southeast Atlanta.  I was there last Sunday and can promise you that you will have an enjoyable experience.  There must have been forty plus people there last Sunday from all religious denominations.  Try it, you'll like it."

Thanks Tom

June Pleasant
