(A Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Documentary) 

Directed and produced by David Barnhart, PDA staff person and Decatur resident, this documentary tells a powerful story about committed Gulf Coast residents and faithful Presbyterian volunteers, the hardships of the overwhelming work they have undertaken together, and the joys of the relationships they form in the midst of shared struggle.

Join us on Friday evening, October 1st, 7 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Atlanta (1328 Peachtree Street, NE) for a special Presbytery-wide screening of the film (selected for national broadcast by NBC affiliates) and stay to participate in a powerful panel discussion with the filmmaker, PDA staff representatives, local and national volunteers, and a special guest-Mr. Wesley Hall, one of the homeowners featured in the documentary.

Bring:   Dish or dessert that is GERMAN and that will compliment the bratwurst.  Following are some suggestions:  German Hot Potato Salad, Red Cabbage, Sauerkraut & Pork, Kraut Salad, Three Bean Salad, Strudel, Blitz Torte, German Chocolate Cake, or your own favorite recipe.

2010 is the thirtieth anniversary of the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program and the Peacemaking Offering, following the adoption by the General Assembly of Peacemaking: The Believers' Calling, which called for a new emphasis on peacemaking across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This year as your church plans to receive this Offering, remember the peacemakers of years past - in your congregation, presbytery, synod and the denomination as a whole. Make this year a time to renew your commitment to peacemaking as part of your calling as a follower of Christ, who not only taught us the ways of peace but is our peace.  We will receive the Offering on World Communion Sunday, the first Sunday in October, which is October 3.
