On Sunday, September 19, the congregation voted to call George Tatro as Pastor of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. In presenting their nomination, the Pastor Nominating Committee shared that one of the reasons they believed he was the person God was calling to MDPC was his description of the church he wanted to serve:

"I want to serve a church that is committed to rejuvenation through the experience of God's love in worship and fellowship. A church that is then prepared to take this renewed focus and enthusiasm out into the community, to bear witness to the transformative and life giving power of God's love in our lives, and to invite others to join in our journey of faith."
At the end of the congregational meeting the Pastor Nominating Committee (Lou Reaves, Marva Bryan, Susan Garrett, Sarah Martin-Elam, Charles Trammell, and Ray Pinkerton) was dismissed with gratitude for their dedicated service.
As he wrote to the congregation last month, Barry Davies will end all of his pastoral responsibilities when George arrived. However, you will be delighted to know that George Tatro has invited him to continue as organist through the end of 2010.
George will begin his service on November 1st and his first Sunday in the pulpit will be November 7th. For the past year you have been praying for the person God would call to MDPC. Now you have a name for that person, so please continue to pray for George as you prepare to welcome him to MDPC.
