THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Next Sunday, August 22, our Sanctuary Choir will return after their summer break, and rededicate their time and talents to this particular ministry.  The scripture lessons for Sunday are Psalm 96 and Ephesians 5:15-20.  I invite you to read these texts and think about the question:  Why do we sing "psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" in church?

Our Book of Common Worship offers this prayer for church musicians:

God of majesty, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven:  Be with your servants who make music for your people, that with joy we on earth may glimpse your beauty, and bring us to the fulfillment of that hope of perfection which will be ours as we stand before your unveiled glory. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FAMILY SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

The Education Committee of the Session is working on an idea for a family Sunday School class for our elementary aged children.  We have interested parents from our congregation who want their families to be involved.  We also want to find a way to include the elementary aged children from the Nepali congregation.  Most of the parents do not speak English and are involved in their worship service that takes place during our Sunday School.  We need members of MDPC who are willing to be surrogate parents for these children during the class.  Please plan to stay for a few minutes after worship next Sunday, August 22, to hear our plans and see if you can help.

You can access the election page through our website at www.georgiavoices.org.
Click on the "vote" button on the right hand side of the page.

We want your feedback! Please send any information about non-partisan election-related events that you would like us to post, any links to important election information, or just suggestions about things you'd like us to consider including on the page to info@georgiavoices.org
