| Thought For The Week:
Like me, you may sometimes find it hard to pray. In such times I find prayers written by other people to be helpful. This week I want to share with you a prayer by Thomas Merton:
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anyting apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

| SUMMER SALAD/SANDWICH STUDY | | Wednesday, July 7, 6:30-8:15 PM, is the seventh of our 10-week study based on Reggie McNeal's book and video, The Present Future: Six Tough Questions for the Church. We begin at 6:30 PM with a potluck "sandwich and salad" supper. (Bring a salad or some sandwiches to share.) Each week we watch a video presenting the tough questions that churches face in our changing culture, followed by a time of discussion about how MDPC can address these questions. This week we will discuss "New Reality Number 4 - The Return to Spiritual Formation." In preparation for this week, think about what you would like to happen in your relationship with God during the next six months. |

Anyone interested in summiting Stone Mountain once or on a regular basis can contact Bob Dinwiddie at his e-mail address rcdinwiddie@bellsouth.net or his cell phone 678-895-2611. The church office will be closed on Mondays, beginning on Monday, July 5, through Labor Day, September 6. The church staff will work from their homes. If you need to get in touch with anyone on the staff, please leave a message on that person's voice mail. It will be forwarded immediately so that your call will be returned promptly. Closing the Donnell Building on Mondays will conserve energy and hopefully result in some utility cost-savings. Please contact Mary Jane Cornell if you have questions.
