Summer Salad/Sandwich Study
Wednesday, June 23, 6:30-8:15 PM, is the fifth of our 10-week study based on Reggie McNeal's book and video, The Present Future: Six Tough Questions for the Church. We begin at 6:30 PM with a potluck "sandwich and salad" supper. (Bring a salad or some sandwiches to share.) Each week we watch a video presenting the tough questions that churches face in our changing culture, followed by a time of discussion about how MDPC can address these questions.
This week we will discuss the necessity of shifting from the goal of "Church Growth" to "Kingdom Growth." Often congregations try to answer the wrong question: "How do we grow our church (how do we get them to come to us)?" We need to address the tough question: "How do we transform our community (how do we hit the streets with the gospel)?" |
| New Fellowship Opportunities
See You Outside the Pew!
We are beginning a new activity in July to get to know each other better one-on-one. After the worship services in the narthex there will be blank pieces of paper and a basket. Please write your name on a slip of paper if you're interested in participating in this activity and place it in the basket. We will randomly draw names and match people up. On June 27th we will inform you of your partner. We encourage you to meet twice during the month of July, each person choosing the location and activity of gathering, such as coffee, a meal out or in your home. It is entirely up to the two of you. If you would prefer to visit, call or write someone who is homebound or in the hospital please indicate so on the paper. This is simply intended to be an opportunity to get to know each other better outside the pews! I hope you'll join us for this time of fellowship!

Church Office
The church office will be closed on Mondays, beginning on Monday, July 5, through Labor Day, September 6. The church staff will work from their homes. If you need to get in touch with anyone on the staff, please leave a message on that person's voice mail and it will be forwarded immediately so that your call will be returned promptly. Closing the Donnell Building on Mondays will conserve energy and hopefully result in some utility cost-savings. Please contact Mary Jane Cornell if you have questions.
