Mary Jane's Thought for the Week

On Sunday, June 13, our Presbyterian Women officers for 2010-11 will be installed during the worship service.  The purpose of the Presbyterian Women organization is:  to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.   Spend time this week thinking of women who have made a difference in your life, and give thanks for them in your daily prayers.

Summer Salad/Sandwich Study

Wednesday, June 9, 6:30-8:15 PM, is the third of our 10- week study based on Reggie McNeal's book and video, The Present Future:  Six Tough Questions for the Church.   In preparation for this week, pick your neighborhood, office, or some familiar drive or walk that you make each week, and look for things you have never seen.

We will begin at 6:30 PM with a potluck "sandwich and salad" supper.  (Everyone will be asked to bring a salad or some sandwiches to share.)  During supper we will watch a video presenting the tough questions that churches face in our changing culture.  This will be followed by a time of discussion about how MDPC can address these questions.

Lunch Box Program

Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church has joined Rock of Ages Lutheran Church and St. Timothy UMC in an outreach program that will offer lunch to persons in need on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We need volunteers on Tuesdays 12 noon - 1:00 pm to help with this new ecumenical venture in our neighborhood.  Please call Carol Cromley (404-292-1888) or Bob Dinwiddie (770-498-0766) to sign up and for more information. Food donations can be brought in to the church office.  A sample lunch box is in the church office.
