LeptospirosisGreetings!

We have heard from many of you recently with questions regarding Leptospirosis.  Many people have seen the news reports regarding Sea Lion deaths on the Oregon coast, which have been attributed to the disease.

In response to your concerns, as well as reports from OSU and Oregon State Public Health Veterinarian Emilio DeBess regarding a spike in reported cases of Leptospirosis in Oregon, Frontier's veterinarians are recommending all dogs be vaccinated for Leptospirosis.

What is Leptospirosis?  Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can infect and cause serious health problems, including kidney and liver damage, in both humans and animals.  Click here for information about Leptospirosis in dogs, and click here for information from the CDC on human infection.

As always, if you have any questions regarding your pet's health or would like to have your dog vaccinated, please call us at 503-648-1643.
