New Law for Medical Practices |
Hello.
Please be our guest...The new Health Care Practice Transparency (HB 935) law signed by Governor Scott on June 2, 2011 requires medical practices who take patients as "walk-ins" (without appointments) and urgent care centers to post a 3 x 5 foot sign in the lobby providing at least the top 50 medical procedures performed by the office and the amounts charged to patients who have no insurance for those 50 procedures. The procedures may be grouped in three price levels, listing services in each group level.
Many medical practices will no longer allow walk-ins of their own patients because of these new rules. Other practices are posting 3 x 5 foot signs this week.
Primary care medical practices, who comply with the posting and publishing requirements at all times, will receive an exemption from a single two-year reporting cycle of continuing medical education requirements and one year of licensure renewal fees.
These new rules will be summarized in a live webinar hosted by Gassman, Bates & Associates, P.A. on Tuesday, July 12 at 5:00 PM. The webinar is free of charge and will be available to watch and download for 48 hours after it runs. Webinar registration instructions are below.
Sincerely,
Kevin Cameron & Jolene Loos
