Greetings!
"Iron rusts from disuse; stagnant water loses its purity and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind." - Leonardo Da Vinci
I know this quote is from THE Leonardo, but let's boldly pump it up further. Inaction kills. Lack of effort destroys. If you suffer from the demon of laziness, you need find no other enemy. If you have a Lack-of-Effort Dragon, slaying it will make you more successful at anything you do, than any other step. I know you know all this, but... But, most recruiters still suffer - knowing all this, no matter - from failure to recognize that lack of sufficient effort kills more recruiting careers than any other recruiting disorder. Part of the problem is that, unlike our Renaissance teachers, we don't tend to think in terms of "principles," real principles. In order to keep us all on track, here again are the seven principles we're mastering in this series:
1. Effort 2. Supply 3. Demand 4. Attraction 5. Romance 6. Chemistry 7. Value Today's principle, Recruiting Effort, breaks down into these four definitions: The Principle of Recruiting Effort
1. There is no such thing as the effort-free placement; all placements follow the exertion of effort. 2. If effort is the key, then the power to improve performance is ALWAYS in our hands. 3. When placements goals are missed, the first hypothesis for analysis is that insufficient effort was expended. 4. When additional placements are desired the first method to be explored is that additional effort may be all that is needed. For today, I simply have to share the following quotes from two of our industry's most brightly shining stars. One thing you'll see in both quotes is that the Principle of Recruiting Effort converts - once we both understand AND execute by its mandate - into the amazing 24-Placements Year. We'll be digging into that topic next time in detail. | | Jon Bartos - Consulting Recruiter, Speaker, Musician and Athlete Extraordinaire! |
"Through my many years in recruiting, what I've found as both a practitioner myself, and as a billing manager, is this: There is no principle in all of recruiting that tops the Principle of Recruiting Effort. It's the most powerful principle we have. Here is how the simple metrics work. I focus my entire team on getting a minimum 5 send outs per week. Based on new recruiters 10-1 so/pl ratio - this gives you two placements per month and thus 24 per year which is what I believe the Principle of Recruiting Effort makes possible. "The real growth begins, when one realizes the EFFORT it takes to get those 5 Send Outs per week. "In a typical new recruiter's reality, it means getting 2-3 Quality candidates a day to EPOEJO which takes 50-60 recruiting calls. It's in that moment of realization - of that EFFORT needed - where real personal and professional growth occurs. Then with quality improvement and a daily inspection of metrics, dreams are no longer just dreams." - Jon Bartos | | Paul Millard- with his father Chuck, his brother Craig, and his best friend Anthony Noto - of NFL fame - on a golfing trip to Scotland. |
"If someone is running a desk, the biggest question of whether they will achieve life altering success or not comes down to effort. I for one truly hope Pat will win the battle to establish his 24-Placements Year by the Principle of Effort as our industry standard. Convincing performers that this is even possible really is a huge step forward all on its own. "Until then and looking at any performance area I have to ask, how many natural athletes did we never go on to hear about because of a lack of effort to achieve greatness? Or, how many natural athletes or chess players or musicians or recruiters could have achieved greatness if they understood the level of effort required to achieve greatness? "How many million dollar biller presenters have I seen present that seemed as sharp as bowling balls or as boring as a tax seminars but billed millions anyway? Too many. I contend they achieved greatness because of their effort. "The Effort Principle described by Pasquale talks about what effort is, what it is not, how to analyze it and how it helps recruiters determine the daily right amount so that they can inject whatever their talents are into the remaining 6 Principles. It is rare in business to have an industry specific coach or to read articles written by such a coach who can actually tell you whether or not you are exerting the proper amount of effort to achieve your desired results. It happens in sports all the time, but not in business. "If you are a rookie or a tenured recruiter that wants to bill more don't skip the Effort Principle and approach it with an open mind. Effort does not always mean more...just most of the time!" - Paul Millard If you desire to hit your peak potential, remember to analyze every failure by the Principle of Recruiting Effort. You may be hitting the magical 24-Placement Year before you know it. Whatever your number or goal, this principle will boost your analysis and performance with the force to empower your recruiting dream and make it real. |
