Greetings!

The golden elixir of the consulting world is: something that works, right now.  I've been building tools for recruiters for 16 years, and I've often thought, "I've found it!" only to discover how much was missing.  Sadly, there are no magic bullets, and I've had to accept that.  The 12 points below are no different.  They're not a magic bullet, and they will require a lot of hard work from you.  But, the amazing thing is that if you put in the work, you can start to enjoy change right now, this very day.  The question, "What must I do AFTER I read these 12 points?" leads us to the need for powerful conversation.  Read on, but then get ready to converse.  That will be where real change commences.
How 12 Points Can Change Your Recruiting World Now

We found these 12 points, my clients and I, through our new conversation at my blog, The Recruiting Manifesto.  The news here is simply that the medium matters.   How so?  It matters in that it has forced me to simplify and intensify my focus (neither are natural skills for me), and to refine the clearest message I'm capable of expressing.   The following 12 points give you the essence of what we've found so far:

1. You must find a way, each day, to access your dream for your life.  The Moon is the ultimate symbol of your dream.

2.  Every time you glance or gaze at the Moon in the heavens it reflects your dream for your life right back to you.

3.  The Sun is the symbol of your work.  But the Sun and the Moon share purpose.  Without work a dream is not meaningful.

4.  Dreams that do not inspire work are just fantasies.  They don't merit the honor of being named a dream.

5.  The Sun must also symbolize the hard work of study and learning, most especially of learning from your own daily efforts and outcomes.

6.  For this to occur, you simply have to have today's victory on the line or today's defeat at risk.

7.  When selecting and setting your sights on today's target, the work you choose to do must be this day's portion of progress toward your dream.  When that's the case your victory today will absolutely thrill you.  If you are defeated you will indeed feel true, unmistakable agony.

8. Daily celebration of your victory, when you win, leads to more than repeat performances.  It supports new, ever-rising levels of mastery and accomplishment.

9. When you are defeated, the agony you suffer will stimulate--after the pain has passed--the best analysis possible.  This informs immediate lessons for tomorrow's execution.

10. We can reduce the daily method of all this to just three terms:  Pre-play,  Perform,  Replay.

11. During Pre-play you must see your victory in as much detail as possible, and set a deadline for the moment your day's efforts must be judged as victory or defeat.

12. Managers, you must have a set time to ask, "Did you win or lose today?"  For those without a manager, that question converts you from performer into self-manager.  The failure to ask it of yourself is the failure to hold yourself accountable.

The BIG Picture - How These 12 Points Flow Together

You must have and know the dream you're working for.  If you don't know your dream, your work cannot be thrilling and you won't visualize your victory today.  Without purposeful, powerful visualization before you get started, you won't be able to properly target your efforts.  No dream, no thrill.  And, there's simply no substitute for your thrill.

A life dream, or a dream for your work, does not come from looking down, or even straight ahead.  You must look up.  The Moon and the Sun can be yours, but you must build a symbolic relationship to them for this to be true.  Any desire, no matter how small, can be symbolically infused into the Moon, so that with every glance, gaze or even thought of the Moon, you'll see the fulfillment of your desire reflected back to you.

Today's work must be dedicated to fulfilling your desire at least.  Soon, however, each and every day's workwill be one day's worth of progress toward making your dream come true.

Once you know what you're fighting for, the Sun's energy and power can be yours as well.  The Sun's radiating energy is yours to drive your coming victory.  The symbolic work is this:  you have to be totally clear about today's most thrilling possible victory. Remember, you don't need to find the perfect dream or even a complete or whole dream right now.  Eventually, you will know your dream as clearly as you see your face in the mirror.  For now, even just the hint of a dream will do.  Once the scent or just a fleeting image of your future comes through, then you can ask, "What work will move me toward that future, today?"

Then, with any sort of victory in mind, you must Pre-play your success in your mind's eye; go Perform with all you are, and after you're done, Replay your victory or defeat for its thrill or agony, celebration or analysis.  When commencing your Replay, always answer this question: "Did you win or lose today?"  Never end your day, or let your earners end their day without asking that question.  Never.

Both at The Recruiting Manifesto and in future newsletters, we will discuss much more about how to find your dream.  We'll also learn how to build a symbolic conversation with the Moon and the Sun.  And then, when you lift your eyes to the sky, the strength in the heavens will become your power to fulfill your greatest potentials through your daily work and learning.
