Make Conference Lodging Reservations Immediately
At 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 6, 2011, our conference hotels release the hold on the rooms we blocked for conference registrants. This means it won’t be as easy to get a room at one of these hotels after Thursday (and will be harder for us to meet our contract obligations if we haven’t booked enough rooms). The good news is that our hotels will extend our group discount rate to you after this date, IF rooms are available and IF you tell them you are with Southern SAWG. The Marriott was full at last check, but we have contracted great rates with the Sheraton, Days Inn and The Chattanoogan. These overflow hotels are just a couple of blocks from the convention center. Click here for lodging details.
We Want Your STUFF!
New (or nearly new) farm related item such as tools, implements, bulbs, fertilizers, pest controls, nonperishable foods, handcrafted goodies, labor or services, B&B weekends or even gift certificates are being sought for our silent auction. Got something to donate? We want it! Our silent auction helps us raise funds to support Southern SAWG’s important year round work. Your donations are much appreciated. But please be kind to our coordinators and let us know right away if you will be making a donation. Click here for a copy of the form. |
Special Thursday Evening Activities:
Come hangout with us on Thursday evening. A pizza, pasta and salad buffet will be available at a discounted price ($10) in the Marriott Restaurant. A cash bar will be set up for your convenience also. You can grab your food and drinks and come just down the hall for the Virtual Farm Tours, the Seed Swap or the APPPA meeting. We’ll have tables so you don’t have to worry about spilling! (No registration required.)
Virtual Farm Tours
Thursday evening 6:00–10:00 p.m.
Tour ten farms all in one evening! Each of the ten 20-minute DVDs in Southern SAWG’s Natural Farming Systems in the South series will be shown. Learn about Cut Flowers, Organic Vegetables, Meat Goats, Pastured Turkeys, Pastured Broilers, Pastured Beef, Pastured Dairy, and Cheesemaking. We’ll post a schedule of when each DVD will be shown so you can come and go as you please.
Seed Swaps
Thursday evening 7:00–10:00 p.m.
Please remember to bring seeds for the seed swap Thursday evening! This will be a great opportunity to meet seed savers, learn about varieties dear to their hearts and teach folks about your favorites. Bring photos and descriptions if you can. Remind others to bring their seeds too.
APPPA Meeting
Thursday evening 7:00–10:00 p.m.
And on down the hall the American Pastured Poultry Producers Association will meet to discuss all things poultry.
Remember that there will be other special activities happening in conjunction with the conference over the weekend. Watch for signs on location for details.
There's so much on our program, we can't tell you about it all here. To see the complete conference program, click here. |
