Southern SARE invites established agricultural systems research teams to apply for the first round of Large Systems Grants. Aptly named, Large Systems Grants are robust awards--$100,000 per year over multiple three-year cycles-intended for interdisciplinary teams already successfully researching a particular agricultural system. If the teams continue to produce solid research results, the grants can be renewed.
"If we are serious about supporting strong systems research programs, we have to find innovative ways to fund these programs over time," says Southern SARE director Jeff Jordan. "Systems research is difficult and complex, but, ultimately it will produce more complete and useful information that will improve the sustainability of agriculture."
Proposals for the Large Systems Grants will be accepted until November 1. Grants will be awarded February, 2011. The Calls for Proposals can be obtained at http://www.southernsare.uga.edu/currentcalls/LargeSystems.doc |
