"A Step in the Right Direction"

Greetings!

topRecital tickets are going fast and so are the good seats.  Make sure you come and visit the office to secure yours.

WSPA is celebrating it's 20th anniversary in a Gala
on June 12, 7PM at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.  An Absolute Must See for all WSPA families.  Treat yourself to a beautiful show that will be showcasing all the top levels in the school featuring "Kingdom of the Shades in the ballet La Bayadere", Award Winning Modern/Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tap competition routines, and a special video documentary on some of our teachers who have been with us for years.

On June 18 and 19, the entire school culminates the year in 4 different shows.  Each show features a balance of beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, in different dance styles; plus a song and dance production of the "Little Mermaid".  Visit our website for the entire line up of each show.

Whether it's the Gala or a recital, we ask that you plan on watching the entire show and let your child enjoy watching other classes and students as well.  No child should experience the audience leaving while she/he performs.

Help make it a stress-free event by abiding by the rules (keep your video cams and cameras in the car) as stated in our recital handbook.  Practice the theater etiquette of respecting your fellow audience and the performers on stage (don't be late and don't leave in the middle of a dance).   Show your appreciation to our students by being a captive audience (refrain from chatting).

Plan on sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the show.

Before I see you at the theater, here are some reminders and some news to share:

meganMegan Glynn says Farewell!

It was a wonderful two years for Megan teaching at WSPA, but driving from Fairfield was getting tougher financially and physically.  When Megan was offered to work for Lisa Clark Dancers in Suisun, the school that has instilled in her as a young child the love for dance leading her to major and master in choreography, it was an opportunity she could not pass.  She bids us farewell as this recital culminates her final year with WSPA.  We will miss her and we wish her all the best and much success working for the school that she  had always called her second home.

Goodbye, Miss Megan, thank you for sharing your knowledge to WSPA and for being an inspiration to so many.

We are organizing a farewell party for Miss Megan next Thursday, June 9 at 7:30pm.  Please come join us say farewll to Megan.

"Professional Ballet Division's 2nd Year Mission

The Professional Division's mission is to prepare students for a professional future in dance.  Students who are accepted initially are those whom we feel may have the physique possessing attributes that are generally considered requisite for professional accomplishments in classical ballet.

However, the student's history of exemplary attitude, work ethics, and commitment can outweigh the physique and will have a deciding impact on the student's acceptance to the program.  It is proven in life that pure love, determination, and hard work bring success.

The students are accepted on a trial basis throughout the year and are evaluated by technical development, talent, and artistic merit.  The size of the class is limited to 15 only.  Students not accepted from the audition will be asked to continue to train in the Performance Program and will have a chance for acceptance as space allows.

The Professional Ballet Division will continue to evolve each year with changes and improvements in the best interest of upholding its mission.

pistahanSAVE THE DATE - PISTAHAN PARADE,
AUGUST 13
pistahan

If you had a chance to join us in the past Pistahan Parade in San Francisco, you would want to join us again this summer on August 13.

We had a wonderful time parading on Market Street with the students on a float and on the street dancing - it was a great representation.

We invite all our students and families to join us again this summer and create an even bigger representation.  Let's show them our WSPA Pride, Spirit, and Unity.  Preparation for the parade will be announced in our July/August newsletter.
