For nearly three decades, Frenchy's Clearwater Beach restaurants have been a local favorite for fresh seafood in a fun, beach atmosphere. In honor of our 30th anniversary coming up in October, Frenchy's will debut a new mascot that pays tribute to the fish that has helped shape our reputation for fresh-from-the-Gulf seafood - the grouper. But first things first...the mascot needs a name!
We're launching a "Name the Grouper" contest, which will afford the community the opportunity to submit names for consideration as the official mascot of Frenchy's Clearwater Beach Restaurants.
"The grouper sandwich is one of our signature items that people know and love about our restaurants," said owner Michael "Frenchy" Preston. "It's only natural our mascot is a grouper and that we involve our community in choosing its name. We're excited to see the creativity and what they come up with."
From Sept. 1 through Sept. 9, anyone 18 and older who is not an employee of Frenchy's may submit one name suggestion via email to marketing@frenchysonline.com. All entries must be submitted by 11:59pm Sept. 9, 2011. A panel of Frenchy's staff representatives will review the submitted names and select three names to be part of the final voting poll.
On Sept. 14, a link to the voting poll featuring the three finalists' name suggestions will be open on Frenchy's website. The poll will close at 11:59pm on Sept. 25. The name with the most votes will be declared the winner and announced the next day.
The person who submitted the winning name will receive a $100 Frenchy's gift card and a photo with the mascot that will be framed and autographed. The persons who submitted the other two finalist names will each receive a $25 Frenchy's gift card.
The newly named mascot will make its first public appearance during Frenchy's 30th Anniversary Block Party on October 7 & 8, 2011.
