HEAD OF SCHOOL

TCS Family,
I want to thank our parents who attended Open House last Thursday. It was an informative evening, and I hope that as you returned home at the end of the night, you did so knowing that your child's teacher will truly know your child this school year and the resulting relationship between teacher and child will result in an enriching academic experience. More from Head of School and information regarding Friday's uniform day!

Weather Related School Closure Policy
As tropical weather activity increases, we want to remind TCS families of our weather related school closure policy. In conjunction with First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, our school policy is to close school for weather related reasons whenever Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) determines that schools will be closed.

Alumni News On Monday, TCS Alumnus, Johnny Giles (Class of 2009) began a year of studying abroad in Arna, Norway. Johnny is participating as an exchange student in AFS-USA's (formerly the American Field Service) international exchange program. This year, Johnny will learn Norwegian, attend high school in Arna, and continue pursuing Eagle Scout, an interest he developed while at The Christ School. We wish Johnny the best in Norway and in all of his future endeavors. |

Chapel Seating for Our Guests
Our primary focus of daily chapel is to focus our minds and hearts on worshiping God. Parents are always welcome to join us for worship, and we ask that you review the following chapel seating procedures.
Monday through Thursday: parents of students who have a role in chapel (prayer, pledge, song, dance, etc.) may sit in the front of the sanctuary on the Angel Wing side. Please sit at the end of the row beyond the classes.
Friday Chapel: parents and guests of students participating in chapel are asked to sit behind the last row of middle school students or in the balcony.
These procedures have been developed with the dual goal of preserving a focused worship environment and welcoming our guests. We appreciate your cooperation and hope to see you in chapel soon.

Background Check Requirements for Volunteers
We share your commitment to the safety and security of our students, your children. We have reviewed and revised our volunteer policy to add an additional level of protection. For the past two years, our policy has required any volunteer who has unsupervised access to our students to be cleared through a criminal background check process consisting of a fingerprint scan and criminal record review. Beginning this year, all volunteers participating in an off-campus school activity, regardless of whether or not they have unsupervised access to our students, must have a cleared criminal background check. Background checks expire every five years. To fulfill the background requirement, deliver your completed form to Electronic Fingerprinting Inc., 621 Virginia Drive, Orlando, FL 32803. Call (407) 208-0944 to schedule an appointment between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
