Special Message
from the Head of School

TCS Family,

I hope you and your children are enjoying the beginning of the summer vacation. Campus has been a little livelier this week as we began the first week of our Summer Odyssey program. It has been nice to see students, faculty and parents. Over the summer, rather than sending weekly e-mails as we do during the school year, we will be sending messages from time to time as we have information to share. Here are a few items:

Report Cards and SAT Results

Later this week, we will be using U.S. mail to deliver student report cards, SAT results and a few more informational items. When you receive the mailing, please take a few minutes to carefully read my letter regarding how we use standardized test results at The Christ School.

RenWeb: Next Steps

Over the past school year, we made a significant investment in a new school-to- home communication system, RenWeb. This system offers many efficient solutions to help us communicate better and we are prepared to take the next steps of implementation. As with any system, it is most effective when all users begin to access it regularly. Over the summer and during the next school year, we will be intentionally directing our parents to RenWeb to receive important information. If you have not logged on lately, now is a good time to make sure you can access your RenWeb account. If you have difficulty, please contact us and we will be happy to help you reconnect.

After we complete our mailing of report cards and SAT results, we hope to use e-mail and RenWeb, rather than U.S. mail, for all remaining communication over the summer. Examples of new uses of RenWeb include:

  • Family financial account balances for closing out 2011-12 accounts
  • Notification of class placements for the 2012-13 school year
  • Updating student data in order to avoid the monotony of completing the same forms by hand each year
  • Sports program information
  • School calendar

Welcome Sarah Wigle

We are pleased to introduce Sarah Wigle as the newest member of our faculty team - our new second grade teacher. Sarah recently shared that during her interview/selection process it was clear that we have a supportive, Christ centered community that teaches the whole child and she is excited to join our team. Sarah grew up in College Park and returned to her community after attending college at UCF. She has a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and has taught in Orange County Public Schools for the past few years. Sarah's favorite part of teaching is seeing a child's eyes light up when they understand something new. She loves the passion and curiosity that children have for learning. She attends Discovery Church, and finds it to be a great place to renew and grow her faith. When she is not at school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, running and reading. She also spends a lot of her free time with her energetic puppy, Norman.

Sincerely,
