THE OFFICIAL E-NEWSLETTER OF THE CHRIST SCHOOL

JASON W. POWELL, Ed.D.

HEAD OF SCHOOL

TCS Family,

One important end-of-year activity for our families is for each to complete the 2011-12 Annual Parent Survey. We value your reflections on your experience this school year and would greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. The results will be used to help inform our planning and I will share a summary of the results at our 2012-13 Open House in the fall.

If you have not already completed the survey, the link is available through the Parent Login on RenWeb. Please limit your annual parent survey response to one per family. The survey will remain open through Monday, May 28.

Thank you for you input.

Famous FloridiansFamous Floridians

Visit TCS

On May 17th, the third floor of Allen Hall was transformed by Mrs. Harrison's and Mrs. Ross' fourth grade students into a one-of-a-kind Museum of Florida History. Each student performed live portrayals of the famous Floridian they chose for their Florida History research project.  This colorful collection of historic figures, ranging from authors to astronauts, captivated an audience of family members, TCS faculty and fellow students.  Thank you, fourth graders, for inspiring us with the tales of outstanding accomplishments which helped build our rich, historic heritage.  If inspiration breeds greatness, then we expect several of you may, one day, also reside in Florida's Hall of Fame.  Pictured (L-R): Sarah as Florida First Lady Mary Mann Jennings; Kiyah as educator and civil rights leader Mary McLeod Bethune; Jason as Seminole Indian Chief Billy Bowlegs.

TCS Group Cheer
We Can Fly! We Can Fly! We Can Fly!

The Lower School Cheer Camp was a huge success this last week as each participant learned jumps, cheers, simple stunts and a dance routine to perform at our final Spirit Day for the 2011 - 2012 school year.  A big thank you to our 4th and 5th grade TCS cheer squad for their time and teaching as they gave back what they had learned to our youngest lion cheerleaders.

Kindergarten Class Learns by Singing in Spanish

Kindergarten has been practicing the Alphabet, el Alfabeto, in Spanish. They have greatly enjoyed using different songs and rhythms to learn each letter. They have also had fun spelling their names in Spanish. Kindergarten parents - be prepared for a fun performance during the Moving-On Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, June 6.

Pastors' Chapel

June 1st!

The Christ School's Pastors' Chapel is Friday, June 1st, and all local pastors, youth leaders, and children's ministry leaders are invited.  We hope that your pastor(s) will join us for this chapel and see how our students are standing strong in their faith.  Invitations were sent home in backpacks last week and all TCS families are encouraged to share this invitation with leaders in their church. Parents are also invited to attend this final school-wide chapel of the year led by our students.  For more information, please contact Nicole Millard.
