THE OFFICIAL E-NEWSLETTER OF THE CHRIST SCHOOL

TCS Family, It was great to receive all of the positive responses to last week's message regarding our 8th grade class mission trip to the Dominican Republic. The primary reason I attended the trip was to gain first-hand experience so that I can speak with credibility as we send groups of students each year in the future. I am pleased to be able to reflect on last week and report that the class trip to the DR is an awesome experience that is powerful in so many ways. Spiritual growth, international travel and cultural awareness, heart change and team and relationship building among the TCS group serving together are just a few of the benefits realized. This Friday, May 18, our 8th grade students will lead their final chapel at TCS. They will talk about their experience in the Dominican Republic and show the entire school how a "bucket line" works to pass wet concrete (although without actually using wet concrete!) We invite all parents to join us in the sanctuary and learn how the Dominican Republic mission trip impacted the lives of our students, teachers, and parents. Chapel begins promptly at 8:15 am. Come and support our soon-to-be graduates! |

Green Time
Recycle, Go Green, Save the Earth, Earth Friendly; in our environmentally conscious times, we hear and see these sayings on a daily basis. A study published in the American Journal of Public Health and cited in an online article from 4-ADHD puts a twist on the idea of being green. The study focused on students diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the benefit of spending time outdoors in a natural setting. Time spent in the wilderness is "attention-restoring" and reduces ADHD symptoms. We can all benefit from unplugging and spending time in the midst of God's creation. So, as you plan your summer activities and vacations, consider going green.
