TCS Family,
As I write this message, I am preparing for a second day of service with our 8th grade students, teachers and parents in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. This group of dedicated Christian leaders chose to be servants for their end-of-year trip and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve alongside them. We arrived on Monday with the plan to work together on a short term mission project at Mission Emanuel.
This DR mission trip is a wonderful way for our 8th graders to culminate their TCS journey that has been based on scholarship, service and leadership. I am so impressed with how our students are demonstrating this vision through their work this week. It was encouraging to serve with them as we passed buckets of concrete up and down a steep hill to complete the bond beam on a home under construction. Our students enjoyed their work, grew together and made great connections with young children who live in the neighborhood we are serving.
Today, we began our morning with breakfast followed with worship time. Our students will visit 8th grade students at a nearby mission school and then begin their work day laying concrete block at a different work site. We will end our day in worship at a mission church.
Please pray for our group as we grow and serve together this week. Please pray for travel mercies. I look forward to sharing stories with you next week when we return.
