Second Graders Serve on Maundy Thursday
In a recent Bible lesson, second grade students learned that on the Thursday preceding the crucifixion, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and said, "I have set an example that you should do as I have done for you."
During Holy Week, the second grade students put the word of God into action. With the help of volunteers, the students mixed dough and prepared Hot Cross Buns for the homeless who attend Bible study at Compassion Corner. The students had learned about the life of the homeless and the ministry of Compassion Corner from Ken Blevins, a former Compassion Corner Director, and Sandy McCall, a current volunteer, who visited the classrooms earlier in the school year. On Maundy Thursday 2012, the students and parent volunteers fulfilled the word of God by delivering the Hot Cross Buns (and crosses the students made) to those attending the Compassion Corner Bible study. The homeless were very grateful to receive a visit from our TCS students, and one even said that receiving his cross and Hot Cross Bun was his best day, ever.

SAT Information
Next week, TCS students in grades 1- 8 will take the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT). Testing is scheduled between 8:45 -11:00 am. Lower school students will begin testing on Monday, April 23rd and middle school testing will begin on Tuesday, April 24th. All testing will conclude on Friday, April 27th.
Here are some tips to help your children do their best:
- Be sure students are on time each day. The classrooms open at 7:50 am and students are encouraged to use the window of time prior to chapel to settle in for the day. This helps set the tone for a calm and successful day.
- Prepare a healthy breakfast that includes protein.
- Assure students that they are well prepared. They cannot "cram" for the SAT.
- Remind them of the importance of taking their time and doing their best. Since the SAT is not timed, there is no need to rush.
- Help students select a good book to read when they finish testing. They will need to remain quiet while others finish.
If an absence is unavoidable, please let the classroom teacher know as soon as possible so we can make the necessary plans for a make-up test. For more information, please contact The Christ School Guidance Counselor, Kristi Ryan.
