NEWS AND EVENTS

Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest

My Favorite Teacher Program is going on now and the last day to submit the writing is March 1, 2012. Students in grades 1-12 can nominate their teacher by writing an essay, poem or thank you letter that shares how their teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire their teacher. If an entire school wishes to participate they would collect the essays and submit them to their local Barnes & Noble...us. Entries will be judged on the compelling nature of the teacher's qualities, sincerity of the student's appreciation and the quality of expression and writing. The local winning teacher will receive a special award acknowledging their achievement, a selection of five Sterling Children's Classic books. The student who writes the winning essay or poem will receive a $25 Gift Card and certificate of recognition to be given in their honor at a ceremony at their local Barnes & Noble. The winning teacher from each store will be entered into the regional contest. Each regional winner will receive a Nook eBook Reader and a $500 Barnes & Noble gift Card. From this pool of winners, Barnes & Noble will name one teacher as the National Teacher of the Year and will receive $5,000. The winning teacher's school will also receive $5,000!! Entry forms can be picked up at any local Barnes & Noble store.
