Diversity seems to be the theme on the local music scene this month. Livingston Taylor plays the Casino Theatre at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on 4/7. Common Fence Music features Phil Ochs Song NIght on 4/14 and John Gorka on 4/28. The line-up at the Narrow's Center for the Arts includes Janiva Magness on 4/5, Los Lobos on 4/6, Jake Shimabukuro on 4/21, Charlie Musselwhite on 4/28 and many more. 

Time for Spring cleaning! Visit the Keep RI Clean facebook events page for a list of statewide events. Among them are a Rocky Point Clean-up 4/15, a Save the Bay & Surf Rider Clean-up at Second Beach on 4/21 and Common Fence Point Clean-up, also on 4/21. The SVF Foundation Lecture Series features Louis Escobar on the challenges and opportunities of suburban farming on 4/4 and Newport In Bloom's annual Spring Workshop will be held at Fenner Hall on 4/25. Finally, celebrate Arbor Day and plant a tree for free by participating in the Newport Arboretum's Specimen Tree Restoration program. Printed maps and apps are available for several themed Newport Aboretum Tree Walks, there is even a walk tailored to children. Other outdoor explorations this month can include Daffodil Days at Blithwold from 4/1-4/29, Women in Colonial Newport Walking Tour on 4/7 and the Neighborhoods of Newport House Tour on 4/29.  If you want to pick-up the pace and hoist a post-run pint join the Newport Run and Chug Club at the Fastnet Pub on Thursday evenings.  For a more leisurely stroll through town, while enjoying local artwork, wander through Newport Gallery Night on 4/12.
