lemonade... good news from newport

september 2011

SallyAnne Santos
September again!

This year marks my 10 year anniversary as a Newporter, after moving here from Manhattan Island as a direct result of 9/11, but that's a story for a different venue and...

There is plenty of adventure here on Aquidneck Island too. Just last week an earthquake and the "almost" hurricane Irene.

5 random takeaways from my past 10 years + 1 week on this Island:
  1. You can never have too much ice!
  2. It is good to have a smart phone and a car charger.
  3. Electricity is a tiny bit overrated, if you have 1+2  you can really enjoy some peaceful quality time with books, boardgames, cards, crafts, candles and musical instruments. (Spinning electrons not always needed ;-)
  4. There is much more relevant and accurate news within your facebook circle of friends than from our local "journalists" who regurgitated our collective FB posts and reported it as "breaking news" during their big "wall-to-wall" Irene calamity coverage.
  5. Speaking of Facebook, wouldn't it be great if the City of Newport "friended" all of us and posted timely information? The CodeRed system, great idea but needs major work on CONTENT, enough said.

If you "like" Windlass Creative on facebook I've set it up for all to share any information you'd like on local activities and breaking news during the adventures ahead-- please take part and post your own news!

Peace,
