Parental Support....News at the NNH

Thanks to your support we are unrolling new educational opportunities for parents in June!  Baby Basics and Parenting Classes will become a monthly staple for clients and program participants as we provide an avenue to enhance newly expecting and veteran parents' skills for dealing with their children.  Baby Basics, a collaboration with our good friends at Re:Start, will focus on pre and post natal information for those expecting.  This 11 month ongoing course is designed to create a supportive environment for new moms to learn about each stage of their pregnancy, as well as providing education for after their new bundle of joy arrives.  NNH Parenting Class will enlist the help of different community partners focusing on key issues such as Helping Your Children Make the Right Choices, Importance of Good Health and Nutrition, and Getting Ready for School to name a few.

What better way to support the families we serve than to strengthen them by providing a hand up through education!  Stay tuned for future success stories...

Spectacular Summer Program...With Your Help

If you walk through the doors of the NNH starting June 7th, the first thing you'll notice is the sound of children!  We are gearing up for the NNH Summer Program which consists of two four-week sessions.  The main goal of the NNH academic-based Summer Program is to make sure that children return to school in the fall ready to hit the ground running.  There are a few needs we have for this summer.  Are YOU ready to take an active role in our students' success?  Please contact Matt or Lee at 267-2217 if you are interested in helping with any of these:

         -a digital camera

         -groups to provide lunch/sponsor lunch each Monday (choose one- June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19, 26)

-Do you have an interesting hobby you'd like to share with a small group?  Fridays from 10-11, adults eager to share their hobbies are welcome.  Examples from last summer are yoga, German language, fitness, knitting, to name a few.

-Would you like to motivate our children to follow in your footsteps?  Come and share your career experiences with the children Thursday 9:30-10:00 (choose one- June 10, 17, July 1, 15, 22, 29, August 5).
