Green Thumbs Wanted

  Calling all volunteers!!!  The N.N.H.
Children's Community Garden needs your help.  We are asking for assistance to once again start and maintain our garden.  Please call if you are interested in volunteering with this most worthwhile project.  Our first work session will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30th.  Bring any gardening tools and materials that you feel are necessary to make this a successful and long-term gardening project to help our kids learn, grow, have fun and be healthy.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Matt, our Education Director at 267-2217.

Pay It Forward

Have you ever seen the movie?  The heart of the message is that you do a good thing for another person, then they will do something good in turn.  This ripple effect passes along throughout society and makes our community, city and essentially our world a better place.

We've had two recent experiences with clients giving back to us that remind me so much of this movie.  A few weeks ago we had a painter call who received help from us during the winter months to keep his utilities from being disconnected His work had picked up and he was calling to see if we knew any clients needing work as he was trying to assemble a crew for a new project.  In addition, this week we received a money order for $40 in the mail from another client who had previously been without water for 10 months until we helped him in January.  During a follow-up call in March, our social worker learned that he was back on his feet and getting good hours.  This was his way of giving back.  (Imagine if everyone who read this e-newsletter today was to do the same and just donate $20).

Both of these individuals wanted to give back which says so much about the clients served by the NNH.  Our clients truly are individuals and families who have met a stumbling block or a bump in the road.  Thank you for helping us to get them back on their feet!
