Adult Program Successes....Putting People to Work and Passing their GEDs |
|
We just wrapped up our first Work Readiness Training Program last Friday, a collaboration with the Career Center of Chattanooga. This ten week program included guidance on writing applications and resumes, computer skills, green job certifications and tours to the Career Center and Business Development Center. Out of the the twelve participants, five have already begun new jobs.
Tuesdays through Thursdays, adults are hard at work studying and preparing for the GED test. Two of our students recently passed the test and two are awaiting results.
Thanks to your support of the NNH Education Programs we are continuing to give adults a supportive environment where they can learn and enhance their marketability for the workforce.

Note from a Client |
| Ever wonder how your donations of money, time and items to our Thrift Stores affect others? Here's a recent note received from a client:
My name is Susan. When I came to you for help, I was ashamed, embarrassed, had never asked anyone for anything. They say "pride cometh before the fall".
Without hesitation, you extended your hand of kindness and generosity. You have helped me twice. You have no idea what your kindness has done for me; Restored my faith in human kindness, there are people who care.
Thank you all so very much and God bless,
Susan
In the first two months of 2010, we have continued to see the same trends as in 2009.
The NNH assisted with 27 additional utilities compared to January and February of 2009. 35% of clients seen in this time span have never requested assistance in the past. |
