Katy PicKaty's Ponderings...

christmas pajamas and yearning revealed

My children were babies and I a svelte size 6 when I made my first foray into Christmas morning matching pajamas. The size of the mother is notable because that first Christmas, I donned the entire crew (self included) in body hugging horizontal stripes from Hanna Andersson. These were no ordinary Hannah's; I had trekked to the Hanna Andersson outlet store in Michigan City, two hours from our home in southern Michigan, on the Monday morning after Thanksgiving in search of Christmas magic. And I found it. A combination of misprints and overstocks with black and blue stripes in affordable configurations. What I couldn't have known in the moment, though, were the two equally important and competing truths at play in that purchase.

"Spirituality and Older Adults" Lead by Marilyn Stavenger

This class will enable participants to think about and imagine some ways to encourage older adults - in one's family or maybe even oneself - to access spiritual resources in support of varied interests, differing commitments, and a desire for meaning.  In years when good physical health is more elusive and one    experiences diminished energy, what are ways that life and relationships can continue to be nurtured by you, or by caregivers and family members?  The embrace of one's own gifts and available communal activities can make all the difference in how one experiences that emotional and spiritual landscape called aging.
