July Newsletter

Greetings!

As most of you know, my home town was devastated by a tornado. We were lucky to have our home missed but our wooded lot was flattened and the forest behind our home is gone. Much of our town was damaged and we are now trying to recover. To document this event and to aid in the healing, GoNE, Inc. Gallery is sponsoring a fundraiser show called AFTER THE STORM.  All entry fees are a donation to the Monson Tornado Fund. Any sales from the show will also be donated. We will be accepting entries as long as the show is on display. If you have any images from the tornado, Please consider entering this show. The opening reception is this Saturday, July 9, 2-5pm.  Come and see the event through the eyes of the photographers who lived through it.

I have been blogging! Follow my blogs, on either website, goneinc.com or nancybryant.com

The 22nd Drawing Show Residue

October 14 - November 27, 2011
Steve Holmes, Guest Curator
Curator's Statement
"Drawing is about residue. A drawing is the trace left behind. Leaving behind traces, drawing is life, drawing is residue. Graphite on paper, pigment on stone. Hatred, love, compassion, anger, grace - these also leave tracks behind. Residue examines the tracks left behind."

This juried exhibition has allowed the BCA to work with more than 500 artists and over 20 guest curators from across the country. Proposals are welcome from all artists and designers who explore drawing as a medium in their work.

Steve Holmes is the Adjunct Curator of Contemporary Art at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami and the Head Curator of the Cartin Collection. Photoshop Tip

The Clone Stamp Tool

I like the picture of the John Hancock Tower below but I would like to get rid of corner of the other building on the top left side of the photo. An easy way of doing that is by using the Clone Stamp Tool.

John Hancock Tower

1) Select the Clone Stamp Tool.

Clone Stamp Tool

We will call :

Area A:  The part of the photo you                                       want to remove.

Area B: The part of the photo that you                               want to replace Area A with.

  2) Make the brush the size of a portion of  Area B . In this case the sky is Area B. Changing the size of the tool can be done by pressing the left bracket [ to make the brush smaller and the right bracket ] to make the brush larger.

3)Sample a part of Area B. In the photo above we would chose a peice of the sky that is clear and has no buildings. You can sample by holding down the option key for a Mac or the ALT key for the PC.

4) Next click on Area A.

5) Keep sampling Area B, then clicking on Area A until you photo is perfect.

Great Job!
