Photoshop Tips:
For Beginners:
Whenever you wish to do cloning or healing on an image, use a blank layer. This nondestructive editing technique is a good practice to learn. By using a blank layer you have the ability to erase or mask if you go too far. You can rework the area without loosing the original. To use a blank layer click on the blank layer icon on the bottom of the layers pallet (top of layer palette if you use Elements) or go to Layers>New Layers.
Be sure the tool you are using (clone tool, healing brush etc.) has the box checked off in its tool bar that says, either Sample all Layers or This layer and below.
Advanced Photoshop User tip:
To remove a color cast quickly, go to the curves adjustment layer. Choose the Gray color picker (there are three eyedroppers available the gray is the middle one). In your image click on a neutral gray area. You may have to click around to find the correct gray area but once you find it, the color cast disappears and colors look correct. Also, it is definitely worth while to calibrate your monitor. Although you must purchase devises to do this, if you want to be able to send out your work and get best results it is necessary. |
Featured Artist
A resident of Wales, Massachusetts, Annie Hermanson has found a nitch. Regularly selling her work, both original and Giclee prints, on line. Annie's specialty is primitive and early american art. See Annie's work at her blog http://chickadeeprimitives.blogspot.com/. If you google Annie's business name, Chicadee Primitives, the entire first page of Google are sites where Annie markets her work, including Ebay and Esty. It is obvious that Annie is using the internet maketplace well. |
Software Review
There are many Photoshop Plug-ins. Some are more worthwhile than others. Some, however, are something that the user finds he/she can not live without. For me that is Viveza. This plug in form Niksoftware does it all for me. On a single layer one can make all the adjustment that would take many more in Photoshop. One can adjust brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, any color channel and color temperature. This can be spot editing a single color or the entire image. Different colors or spots can be edited at the same time. You can try a 15 free trial and right now Niksoftware is giving $100 dollars off the original price |
