Photoshop Tips:
For beginners: Try using a blank layer when cloning. Click on the new layer icon on the layers pallet to get a new blank layer. Be sure it is the top layer. When you select your clone tool look to see if "all layers" is check off on the tool menu bar. Then begin to clone. Because you are cloning on a separate layer, all work done is not destructive and can be erased or masked if you go too far cloning.
Advanced Photoshop User tip: To make a composite layer, (all layers put into one layer without flattening your file) use this keyboard shortcut. With the left hand hold down Shift/ctrl/alt then click the letter "e". A new layer will pop up. This is useful if you want to have a finished layer on top to sharpen for example but you do not want to flatten your file because you may want to re-edit. |
Featured Artist
This month's featured artist lives and works in Montpellier, VT. He recently launched his web site to market and display his photography. With the eye of a an artist/designer, he has created a unique visual language of form and texture. His work can be seen on his website:
http://www.mfwolik.com/MF (Michael) was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. His fascination for nature, creativity and imagination began at an early age. While attending high school Michael developed a love for expression through several artistic mediums. In 2000 he earned a BFA in Fine Arts from Framingham State College. The focal points of Michael's art education were printmaking, sculpture, photography and design. Today Michael is a professional Graphic Designer and Visual Artist who calls Vermont his home. Michael's love for nature, hiking, adventure and exploration have brought him to many beautiful places. During his inspirational travels, Michael became creative on foot and reclaimed his love for photography. Michael's photography work is a product of a life long artistic goal, which is to create abstract imagery that many can relate to and enjoy. His method of abstraction is based on the natural world, unique perception, composition and subject matter. |
Photoshop World Review
It was a great time at PSW, as always. Much to learn, see, do. Of course CS4 was featured. I was able to buy my upgrade at the show for discount and am now using it in my work flow. The interface is a major change. I am still trying to get used to it. Photomerge is more accurate and easier to use.
I found a session on speed color correction to be greatly helpful.
As always my favorite part is the presentation by the masters of photography called "the Art of Digital Photography." If you would like a taste of what it is like you can view the website of Jim DiVitale and see what his presentation was like. http://www.divitalephotography.com/
